Jim Shields Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my photography blog. My name is Jim Shields and I am a wedding and portrait photographer from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Feel free to stalk my blog all you want...let me know you're here by leaving me a comment. My old BLOG is still available to view by clicking the “Blogroll” above and I can also be found on Facebook by clicking the Facebook logo at the bottom of this page.

For those of you just checking things out, please understand this blog will have some of my professional shots as well as many pictures of family and friends. It is intended to show my clients who I am, what I am all about, and what I have been up to recently. It isn't always going to show off my work, rather show off my family, of whom I am so very proud. If you want to check out my portfolio, please go to my website by clicking the “Web Site” link above.

I now have links to my older slideshows on the menu titled “Pages/Wedding Slideshow Page”. I can also be found on Facebook by searching for my name. Make sure you find this picture of me as there are several of us out there with the same name. I know I’m excited about the direction and speed my company is moving in. Thanks again to all of you, I couldn’t have done it without you. Enjoy!

Henry Ford Museum

On Saturday Deb and I visited The Henry Ford Museum which was compliments of Carissa and Alek who will be getting married in a few weeks and wanted me to have a chance to check out the locations before their big day. Thanks so much Carissa and Alek for the tickets. Deb and I haven’t been to The Henry Ford Museum in a few years so it was nice to re-visit and see all the changes since our last visit. Of course the one thing that caught my eye most was the airplane when you first walk in. And then there is the Diner, the cars, the locomotives…well anyways it was a blast. Thanks again to Carissa and Alek for the tickets. Looking forward to your big day coming up real soon.

Vacation 2010…that’s a wrap!

Well our vacation is now over and it’s time to get back to work. Can’t believe last Friday I was getting sunburned at the pool and today I shoveling myself out from all this crazy snow. Oh well, that’s why we love Michigan so much. A special thanks goes out to my Dad and Gail who were such good hosts for our week in Florida. We had a great time relaxing with the two of them and watching the Olympics. I have to admit I’m not sure I’m ready for retirement living yet. I think I would go crazy with nothing going on all day. Here is a picture of a Cypress tree (I think) that I photographed on Friday evening when we went out to dinner. I thought it looked best in black and white. Now it’s back to work for me.

Vacation 2010-Just Another Day

I took a walk this morning and see they turned the heater on in the Jacuzzi and the pool. It was only about 40 degrees outside but they are expecting it to get to 70 today. They must be thinking someone might actually use them today, maybe even me. I know 70 doesn’t sound all that warm but when I checked the weather for Sterling Heights it said the high is only 29. I will take 70 over 29 any day. Gotta go get my suit on. See ya!

Happy Anniversary Dad and Gail!

One year ago today I stood up in my Father’s wedding in Ingersoll Ontario on Valentines Day. That sure went by fast. Deb and I are visiting the newlyweds in warm, well maybe not so warm, Florida. It is 35 degrees out right now but it’s heading to a high of 64. Deb says she rounds numbers up so she is saying it’s 70. Oh well, it’s still nice to get away and leave the snow behind. Here is a picture of their first dance that was taken last night at the Valentines Day Dance at Summerglen, where they stay in Ocala Florida. They never did get to dance at their wedding reception as it was just a dinner after the ceremony. This is actually the first time they have ever danced together. Congratulations Dad and Gail, many more to come.

Florida Vacation 2010 – Day 1

Well Deb and I arrived safely in Florida to a warm 44 degrees and torrential rains. At least the precipitation wasn’t white like it is in Michigan. I went out for a walk this morning, a very short one due to the cold temperature. Thought I would just post a few images from my short walk this morning. I was going to take my camera with me for my 10 mile run but it’s just too hard to take pictures while I’m running full speed. LOL

Jessica - Pool looks gorgeous…will you be using that this week??? ;) Love you!

Guy Shields - HELLO Uncle Jim…….the pictures are great you guys look very happy and that is a good thing……Be Good !! and stay out of trouble…..hope to see you soon…..I remain Guy (Archie’s little boy)
