Jim Shields Photography bio picture

Welcome!

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my photography blog. My name is Jim Shields and I am a wedding and portrait photographer from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Feel free to stalk my blog all you want...let me know you're here by leaving me a comment. My old BLOG is still available to view by clicking the “Blogroll” above and I can also be found on Facebook by clicking the Facebook logo at the bottom of this page.

For those of you just checking things out, please understand this blog will have some of my professional shots as well as many pictures of family and friends. It is intended to show my clients who I am, what I am all about, and what I have been up to recently. It isn't always going to show off my work, rather show off my family, of whom I am so very proud. If you want to check out my portfolio, please go to my website by clicking the “Web Site” link above.

I now have links to my older slideshows on the menu titled “Pages/Wedding Slideshow Page”. I can also be found on Facebook by searching for my name. Make sure you find this picture of me as there are several of us out there with the same name. I know I’m excited about the direction and speed my company is moving in. Thanks again to all of you, I couldn’t have done it without you. Enjoy!

The Wedding of Michele & Cody – the slideshow…

Last Saturday I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Michele and Cody who were married at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills. Michele and Cody, along with their families, were great to work with for their special day. We started off with the girls getting ready at the Marriot in Pontiac and from there we were of to the church to be married. The girls makeup for the day was done by Stacey Vashak. Then it was off to the really cool laSala Banquet and Event Center in Rochester Hills. What an awesome place that was. The video for the day was by Bruce Mandel of Mandel Video Productions and the entertainment was provided by the famous Music Box Productions. Dante did and excellent job of keeping this party going. I love working with Music Box as they are always very professional and know what it takes to keep the party rockin. We left late (which we always do) and the dance floor was still overcrowded.  Congratulations Michele & Cody. Best of luck to the two of you for your new life together as “man & wife”. Enjoy the show!

Vote for Jim Shields Photography!

This year I have been nominated for WDIV’s “The Best Of” in the photography section. This is quite an honor for me and I would love to have your vote by clicking the banner below. Thanks in advance. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The Wedding of Hayley & Corey – the slideshow…

On Saturday I had the privilege of shooting the wedding of Hayley & Corey at the beautiful St. Mary Parish in Royal Oak, MI. It was quite a bit different than the day we did their engagement photos in downtown Royal Oak in the cold weather. I believe I remember some cold, red, noses after that day. There wasn’t any cold noses on Saturday as the temperatures soared into the high eighties, which we haven’t really had much time to get used to yet in Michigan. Seems like we went right from 70’s to 90’s and bypassed all the nicer temps we all enjoy. It was hot but everyone had a great time as you will see by the slideshow below. The video was by Brad and Chris from Relic Media LLC and the entertainment was provided by Mary Ann from Mary Ann Productions.

Congratulations Hayley and Corey. I know you’re laying on some beach right now but get home safely, and soon, as I’m sure all of your families are missing you already. Enjoy!

Christina & Aaron – E-session…

On Monday I met up with Christina & Aaron to take a few engagements pictures of them at a park in Rochester. They brought along their cute little puppy Logan, who happened to get in to a few pictures himself. They will be getting married in August of this year and it should be a great time. If it ends up as much fun as I had with this session I’m thinking it will be a fantabulous time (not too sure if that’s a word but it sounded good). Some of the positions I found myself in on this shoot was quite scary. Just glad I didn’t end up in the drink, oh yea glad they didn’t too, although that would have made for some interesting pictures for sure. Enjoy!

The Wedding of Jessica & Chris – the slideshow…

On Saturday I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Jessica and Chris at the beautiful St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Monroe, MI. It was a great day for a wedding even though the weatherman forecasted heavy rain for the day (that didn’t happen). The weather was fantastic for our outdoor pictures after the ceremony. After the pictures we were off to Wayne Tree Manor for the reception and a GREAT time. Jamie Flanagan from Night & Day provided the entertainment for the evening, and did a great job.

This was one of those weddings I thoroughly enjoyed being around all the people. The families were so gracious to both my wife and I. I will continue to say “I have the best job in the world”!  I know I say it it a lot but I am so blessed to work with GREAT people during their special day. Enjoy the show!

Jessica - Love the pictures, Jim! Thank you again!

Liz - I love this couple! These are such great pictures! :D

Princess Norah is 15 Months Old

It’s hard to believe that our little Princess is already 15 months old. I can remember waiting for the day to come and it seemed like an eternity. Now that she’s here the time is flying by. Maybe if Lauri, Jen or Jessica would get pregnant the time would slow down once again. Come on girls! Here’s just a few of our Princess Norah Grace.

The Wedding of Jessica & Chris-June 13, 2009

Thought I would just post a few images from Jessica and Chris’s wedding from Saturday night. I was going to do this earlier but the blog was down for technical reasons (beyond my control, or understanding). I will be posting a slideshow later in the week but here are just a few from the night. I might add it was a perfect day for a wedding. The weather-man had forecasted downpours for Saturday, but thank heavens that never happened. Check back later in the week to see the slideshow. I will be posting a notice on Facebook once the  slideshow is up also.

John Shields - Awesome! You can just feel the excitement and love radiating from all of these shots!

Debbie - Nice job, honey! They were a great group to work with.

Tina - Great Pictures Jim and Debbie. You can see the sparkle in Jessica and Chris eyes. I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures. This was a very special day for our families.

Liz - I love these pictures, they're so fun! What a great couple!

Marie and Stephen – E-Session…

I just realized I haven’t blogged this engagement session with Marie and Stephen I did last Sunday. Things have been hectic around Jim Shields Photography lately. Lots of weddings, engagement shoots and portraits going on these days. It also seems nowadays with Facebook I sometimes forget to blog the images as well. I should know that some people out there don’t see Facebook (why, why, why???) This was a real fun shoot with Marie and Stephen as they opted for a more grungy look to there images. Some times you just have to take the sewer-like smells in those alleys to get those shots, but it wasn’t that bad and we had a great time with this session. I’m thinking this wedding will be a great time too and I’m looking forward to this one for sure.  Enjoy!

The Wedding of Kelly & Tom – The Slideshow…

As I promised here is the slideshow from the wedding of Tom & Kelly’s wedding from Saturday night at the Fern Hill Golf and Country Club. Kelly and the girls makeup was by Carly Zalenski from “Brides on Location”, and the music was provided by John from Digital Creative Group.  It seems as though everyone had a great time.

My son John and I had a great time with this group. That’s what makes our jobs so enjoyable. We are honored to be chosen to document one of the most important days of your lives, with all the excitement, and emotions, that go along with it, we do thank you for that opportunity. Hope you enjoy the show.

John Shields - Congratulations and Thank you again Kelly and Tom!

Madeline Goes to The Zoo…

Today I had a small break in the afternoon and met up with friends Barry and Heather, with their daughter Madeline, and their son Benjamin. Heather wanted to get some pictures of Madeline so off we went to the Detroit Zoo. What a beautiful day to be outside. It sure was a great break for me to get out and get some fresh air and do what I love to do, photograph people. The last picture on the post is a picture we caught with the two of them together. They are both such cute kids. Madeline did fantastic today modeling for me. She is quite the ham in front of the camera. I think you will be able to tell after looking at the pictures. Enjoy!

Julie P - love the first series of cute little, nose-crinkly faces!

Jessica - How beautiful!! She's a natural too!

Kevin - Awesome images Jim!

Debbie - Madeline Goes to the Zoo... sounds like a story book for children! Hey, you could do photo illustrations for children's literature! And Madeline could be the star! OK, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's back up the train. Nice pictures, honey. I know Barry & Heather will be very pleased.

Pam Epps - I am very proud to say that Madeline and Benjamin are my beautiful grandchildren.
