Happy Thanksgiving

Well the holiday season is upon us once again. We at Jim Shields Photography would like to wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. We hope you find yourself surrounded with family and friends on this special day. I know we will be watching football and eating too much. Hope you can find it in your hearts to be thankful for something, or someone, today. This picture of Deb and I, along with our grandchildren Ethan and Norah, sure puts a smile on our faces.  We are so thankful for our family and feel so lucky to have all of them close to us, and employed. Have a GREAT day everyone!

Prince Ethan | 8 months old

It seems like we are doing Ethan’s monthly pictures on a weekly basis. I know I say that every time but never have I actually felt it like this time. Where is the time going these days. All the more reasons to enjoy it while we can, and Deb and I certainly do enjoy every moment we get to spend with any of our family.  We certainly feel blessed to have all of our family living in this area, close to us, and we take full advantage of it. I have sisters who have kids spread out all over this country and that is something Deb and I don’t have to deal with, thank heavens. Ethan was so good last night for this photo shoot but he was certainly done at the end. He fell asleep in Deb’s arms pretty quickly after this shoot.

Ethan, as well as Norah Grace, are going to grow up like my kids did, with a camera pointed at them all the time. It is very natural for my kids and will be for theirs as well. I’m certainly looking forward to continuing to document our grandchildren’s lives. I will bring all of you along for the ride on my blog. Enjoy!

Andrea & Eric | Getting to Know You Session

On Monday I met up with Andrea and Eric downtown by Comerica Park for their getting to know you session, as they are both big Detroit Tiger fans. The season is over for the Tigers this year but, oh well, there is always next year. Andrea and Eric will be tying the knot in late September 2011 but wanted to get their photo session done this year. We had fun wandering around the park until the sun went down, since it goes down so early now. We even noticed the Christmas lights starting to be turned on downtown. That reminds me, I better get that Christmas tree out of the attic and set up. I’m looking forward to working with Andrea and Eric again next year for their big day. Enjoy!

The Shields Family Portrait | Kickapoo Creek Winery, Illinois

The day before my wedding in Illinois I gathered up our troops and headed over to the winery where the wedding was going to take place to scout out a spot to use for our annual family portrait. I often tell people that these photos can be very stressful to set up with everyone and their different schedules, etc. However since all of our family was going to be at the winery for the wedding it was a golden opportunity to get everyone together in one spot for this picture. The only grief I took was from my kids complaining about the white shirts. Geez…just thought it would look nice. Oh well, Deb and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Enjoy!
