The Wedding of Lorri & Ryan | the slideshow

On Saturday, July 23, 2011, I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Lorri and Ryan at the prestigious Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan. It was certainly a hot day for a wedding but we kept most of the picture taking to indoors so everyone didn’t melt. I photographed Lorri and Ryan’s engagement session a while back and it was also well over 90 degrees which made it tough to not look too wilted. The end shots of that session were the two of them playing in the water at the Cider Mill. I think they enjoyed that from the look of those photos. Here is the slideshow of the day. Congratulations Lorri and Ryan. Best of luck to the two of you and thanks so much for trusting me with your wedding photos. Enjoy!

Another Princess (Lily) and Prince (Jack)…our Dynasty Continues with Twins

As most of our family already knows we welcomed our newest grandchildren into this world on 7-11-11, to our daughter-in-law, Jen, and our son, Jim Jr.. The newest Princess “Lily Marie Shields” & Prince “Jack Murray Shields” came one day earlier than the Doctors thought they should arrive, but as we all know, kids have there own ideas about these things. I’m sure Jen and Jim will find that it’s going to be that way from now on too. Yes our Dynasty continues with these two little bundles of joy. Jen and Jim are getting used to (if there is such a thing) less sleep and schedules controlling their lives right now. Yes we all know it’s rough in the beginning, probably more so with twins, but oh so worth it in the end. Jack will also be the first grandchild to carry on the Shields name into the future, since he is the first grandson born with the Shields name. So does this end the dynasty, I think NOT, as we anxiously await the birth of our next grandchild to Lauri and John within the next few days. Will it be a boy or a girl? We will find out that day and report back.

Here are a few of the pictures we got of Lilly and Jack’s first (5 1/2 hour) photo session. Enjoy!

Christin & Robert | e-session

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot the engagement pics of my good friend Robert Bruce and his fiance Christin. Robert wanted to use his recently rebuilt VW van that he has poured so much work into. One of my favorite pictures is them driving down Woodward as we headed to the next location. I had on a 70-200 lens and lifted it up and snapped the picture while driving behind them. I’m sure the guy next to me thought I was following some criminal or something. The picture was so bad there wasn’t much I could do to it other than make it look a little bit like a cartoon. Kinda different, but kinda cool too. They will be getting married in Hawaii on October 27 of this year.

Robert shot two of my kids weddings and he has been such a great friend, and mentor, ever since. I have learned so much from him over the past few years. I consider Robert one of the best in this crazy business and such a great friend. I don’t know how he does all the weddings he shoots every year. If you are looking for a great photographer for anything, look him up.

The Wedding of Kristen & Ken | Meadow Brook Garden

On Friday, July 1, 2011, my son John and I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Kristen and Ken at the awesome Meadow Brook Gardens. This isn’t your normal post for a wedding due to the privacy concerns of the couple, which I always respect. Kristen did allow me to post a few pictures of Ken’s Phantom Rolls Royce which he drove to the hall. Kristen and Ken were so nice to work with. This was a very intimate wedding with close friends and family only.

The entertainment was provided by the awesome Fletcher of Music Box Productions and the flowers were by Westborn Market. The doves for the dove release were provided by Jolene Alward of Wings of Distinction North.

If you want more information on the Lingenfelter Car Collection check out his website by clicking HERE. If you ever get a chance to view this collection in Brighton, Michigan, I would sure take the opportunity to do so. It is a fantastic collection of vehicles that is a must see to believe.

The Wedding of Natalie & Chris | the slideshow

On July 3, 2011, my son John and I photographed the wedding of Natalie and Chris at the San Marino Club in Troy, Michigan. It was a great day for a wedding with warm temperatures, clear skies and GREAT people. Natalie and Chris’s families were so nice to work with, as well as the whole wedding party. The ring bearers were the cutest set of twins, which got a lot of my attention as well as my son John’s, who is also a twin. The reason I mention this is that on July 11, 2011, our family welcomed our newest grandchildren, Lily and Jack, into this world, which is the main reason this slideshow took a little longer than normal. I guess we had twins on our minds during this wedding as we anxiously awaited the arrival of Lily & Jack.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by the awesome Music Box Productions, who we love to work with. As a matter of fact the DJ, Joe, was also the DJ for my son John’s wedding a few years ago. It was great working with you guys. Enjoy the show!
