Marni & Nir – Getting to Know You Session, Royal Oak, MI

Marni, Nir and I met up in Royal Oak a few days ago to do some “Getting to Know You Session” pictures. We had a great time wandering through Royal Oak. Almost got thrown out of our favorite spot by the Royal Oak Music Theater but we were pretty much done by that point. Marni is in the music business (no she isn’t a model folks) and when she mentioned her bosses name the fellow who was giving us a hard time changed his tune, and fast. Nice to know people for sure. They will be getting married at the Masonic Temple which we are told will still be open by then. However Nir says if not we will be having a big party in his back yard. Those are fun too but I’m sure the Masonic Temple will be just fine. Here’s a few images from the day.

Kristy & Joe | getting to know you session

On Saturday, my wife and I braved the cold weather with Kristy and Joe to do their getting to know you session at the beautiful Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. This is one of my favorite places to shoot since there are so many possibilities to get some nice backgrounds. Every time you turn around there is another spot that looks nice. Therefore we end up spending a lot more time wandering and grabbing another picture. It does take longer to shoot here but it is such a great place you don’t mind because you are having so much fun. This is one of Kristy and Joe’s favorite places too so they are members. As a matter of fact the pictures of the inside of the jewelry store is where they got engaged. There wedding is in 2013 and I’m really looking forward to this one. If I wasn’t shooting it I would be a guest so my wife and family will be there as well. Love those weddings. Enjoy!

PS: The last photo is because Greenfield Village was decorated for Halloween.

Tiffany & Jeff | getting to know you session

On October 22, 2012, I met up with Tiffany & Jeff for their getting to know you session at Belle Isle. A lot of the colors had already passed but we will still able to find some for some of the shots. I love the lighthouse at the end of the island. It is one of my favorite spots to capture some cool images. Unfortunately a few years ago they put a fence around the base of the lighthouse so you can no longer sit at the base, so we only use it as backgrounds now. There also used to be a real nice fence by a colorful tree that we used to use as well and it was knocked down now. I only hope Detroit gets it together and gets this island back to being in the shape it deserves. I think they have been doing some things to make it better but that has all to do with the Grand Prix which is now back on the island after taking a few years off. It was a very nice day for this shoot and I think those days are going to be harder to find now that we are into November. Enjoy!

Erica and Jim | getting to know you session

On Sunday, October 21, 2012, I met up with Erica and Jim over at George George Park for their getting to know you session. They will be getting married in 2013 and it should be lots of fun. This is one of my favorite parks to shoot at in the Fall as the colors are very nice. I’m finally starting to get a little caught up in the editing department but still have a lot more to get through over the next week or so. Enjoy!

Heather & Jerry | getting to know you session

On Saturday my wife and I met up with Heather and Jerry at the Heavenly Scent Herb Farm in Fenton, Michigan for their getting to know you session. We had changed locations from their original choice of Ann Arbor to this location, which is an awesome place for a photo shoot. I will caution anyone though that there is a cost to do a session here. You can check that all out on their website which has a link in this post. It was a great day for a shoot with cooler temperatures and some great spots for pictures. We did seem to run from the sun a lot but we do that every weekend at weddings. We had a great time and my wife is very happy to have found such a treasure as this spot was more than just a photo location, rather a very good shopping location as well. I know we will be back there soon for Christmas decorations. We had a great time with Heather and Jerry and I’m looking forward to their October wedding.
